13 July 2009

30.82 mi, 16.8 mph, 1 hr 50 min, soundtrack Bjork “Earth Intruders”.  It’s been a month since I last rode.  Shameful.  But despite my sloppy pedaling tonight, I felt very good.  Which is more than I can say for the Croll, which felt sloppier than my pedaling.  Considering the purchase of a new car, it may be some time before that’s remedied.

13 June 2009

40.25 mi, 17.1 mph, 2 hr 27 min, soundtrack Okkervil River “Unless it Kicks”.  Entire ride in the 53 today, except this time everything felt good.  I’m starting to feel enough strength in the legs to start doing intervals.  Maybe this week.

11 June 2009

30.5 mi, 17.4 mph, 1 hr 45 min, soundtrack Emily Haines “Dr. Blind”.  Identical ride to yesterday… except nothing felt good today.  Could the slow paced soundtrack be the cause?  Maybe it had to do with the entire ride being, warm up to cool down, in my 53.

10 June 2009

30.5 mi, 17.4 mph, 1 hr 45 min, soundtrack Broken Social Scene “Almost Crimes”.  A Midwest wedding and a crisis at work contrived to keep me off the bike for almost a week.  Today’s right was eventful.  For the most part I felt great, although my cadence felt choppy from the get go.  About half way through the ride my right calf started cramping, but I was able to ride it out.  Unfortunately, I had to ride the last third of the ride without water because the water jug at the UTBT trailhead was empty.  So I was in a world of hurt when the cramp came back about 5 miles from home.  Had to push a huge gear the rest of the way.

3 June 2009

23.25 mi, 18.2 mph, 1 hr 16 min, soundtrack Oingo Boingo “Cinderella Undercover”.  Same ride as Monday.  Felt like I was going easier than Monday, even though I was going faster.  Need to get better at predicting the afternoon storms, I could have added another 10 miles to the ride easily.

2 June 2009

6.25 mi, 17.3 mph, 21 min, soundtrack The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo “Squeezit the Moocher”. Today’s ride was cut very short by weather.  Too bad, the soundtrack was awesome!

1 June 2009

23 mi, 18 mph, 1 hr 17 min, soundtrack Muse “Feeling Good”.  Time only allowed a short ride today, but it was a good one. My soundtrack tonight was perfect, everything felt good. Spent almost the entire ride just above my comfort zone and still had gas in the tank to hammer home at the end.

31 May 2009

30.5 mi, 16.7 mph, 1 hr 49 min.  Relaxing ride today, recovering from yesterday.

30 May 2009

50 mi, 16.8 mph, 3 hr, soundtrack Pixies “Gouge Away”.  Felt great today until the 45th mile, when I suffered a minor bonk and had to spin it home. Not sure what happened there.  I had a big breakfast and drank two bottles of water an hour. It may have been the heat, or maybe the strong southwesterly wind… persistent and warm.  Had a big dinner and found myself hungry an half an hour later. I’m going to pick up a case of Gu this week and carrie a couple with me on rides just in case. Even worse than hitting the wall?  Chafed nipples.
